On May 29, 2020, representatives of the executive authorities, enterprises and institutions of the Tyumen Region, with the organizational support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia, took part in an online meeting with the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Malaysia Nikita Vladimirovich Ponomarenko. The topic of the online meeting: "Strategies for the entry of export-oriented companies from the regions of Russia to the Malaysian market in conditions of uncertainty."

The Trade Representative of Russia in Malaysia spoke about the specifics of doing business in Malaysia using specific examples of cooperation between enterprises in a number of industries.

Since 2019, the Russian-Malaysian Intergovernmental Commission has been established and actively involved in supporting Russian business. The purpose of the commission: to effectively promote the products of Russian export-oriented companies to the Malaysian market. In the work of the commission, there are 7 priority areas of cooperation: aircraft construction and astronautics; industry and equipment manufacturing; information, computer and telecommunication equipment and technologies; Oil and gas industry; chemical industry; food industry; regional cooperation.

Malaysia has developed and is implementing the Concept for Long-Term Socio-Economic Development until 2030, which identifies 15 key development points and the Malaysia Development Plan for 2015-2021. In accordance with the development strategy, Malaysia is actively developing digital technologies (information modeling in construction, e-commerce, etc.), a green economy (renewable energy, recycling of household waste) and social reengineering (health development, smart farms, biotechnology). The sales representative noted that innovative complex projects and technologies in the food and chemical industries, information and communication technologies are in demand in Malaysia.

N.V. Ponomarenko drew the attention of the online meeting participants to the fact that the Government of Malaysia creates favorable conditions for development for foreign investors and entrepreneurs. For example, among the ASEAN countries, Malaysia is in first place in terms of business support measures. Since the end of February 2020, about $ 65 billion has been allocated to various entrepreneur support programs. At the same time, special attention is paid to programs for automation and digitalization of production (smart city technologies, artificial intelligence), as well as training staff in digital skills. The Trade Representative noted that In the manufacturing sectors of Malaysia, those companies that are ready to enter the Malaysian market with a demanded new technological product, the Government of Malaysia assists in establishing production lines, provides the necessary infrastructure on a contract basis. The above is an attractive offer for representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, including foreign ones. "

The sales representative drew the attention of the participants of the online meeting to the possibility of registering and promoting Russian goods on international, Asian and Malaysian electronic trading platforms. It should be noted that on two of the trading platforms mentioned by the trade representative: Alibaba.com and ebay, the Export Support Center of the Tyumen Region places goods from Tyumen enterprises that are in demand.

Tyumen entrepreneurs Tyumen Aerosols LLC, Tyumen Pribor LLC, IP Yusupov-resident of the West Siberian Innovation Center took an active part in the online meeting. The heads of the enterprises received advice from the trade representative on issues related to the organization of business in Malaysia.

More than 100 representatives of enterprises, relevant ministries and departments of the regions of the Russian Federation took part in the online meeting. N.V. Ponomarenko provided contacts of the trade mission for further work with enterprises and organizations of Russia.
