Sveza introduces specialized plywood for electric vehicles to the market
28 January 2022
Specialists of the company "Sveza" have developed a specialized plywood, which is made of 100% birch raw materials, but does not conduct electric current. Such properties of the material were achieved thanks to a unique varnish with electrical insulating properties, which covers the surface of plywood of the FBS-AT brand. The innovative product is produced at the plant in Tyumen.

The need to endow plywood with dielectric properties was dictated by the request of a customer who produces urban passenger transport - electric buses. The new requirements of the Russian technical regulations "On the safety of wheeled vehicles" oblige manufacturers of passenger transport to use materials with electrical insulating properties in floor coverings. This is necessary due to the complexity of the design: for example, the addition of lifting mechanisms for people with limited mobility.

After conducting internal tests at the Svezy plant, a test batch of dielectric plywood was sent to the customer for verification directly during installation on the vehicle. The material confirmed its properties and was entered into the design documentation.

Thus, SVEZA Dielectric has all the documents confirming the quality, as well as a certificate of conformity for deliveries to the CIS countries and is ready for mass production.

"Modern urban transport is becoming more environmentally friendly and comfortable. Therefore, increased safety requirements are imposed on materials. We believe that dielectric plywood has a huge potential. The scope of its application is not limited only to transport, it can be in demand in all segments where light materials that do not conduct electricity are needed," said Alyona Sergeeva, head of the Ground Transport industry team at Sveza.

Sveza is one of the leaders of the Russian LPC and the largest producer of birch plywood in the world. In September 2021, the company rebranded, now the logo is a leaf of a tree inscribed in a clearly defined square, which can also be viewed as an arrow pointing upwards - a symbol of movement and progress. The transformation also touched on strategic objectives. The company's products have gained the trust of consumers in more than 90 countries on five continents. The Sveza Group includes 7 plants, as well as a number of structures, including companies engaged in the procurement of raw materials and the production of biological products. High-quality plywood "Sveza" is used in the construction of skyscrapers and Olympic venues, the production of trunk trailers, high-speed trains and LNG tankers, in the creation of eco-friendly furniture and stylish interiors.
