In June 2006, a delegation of Swedish historians, local historians, journalists, intellectuals, as well as descendants of captured Swedes who lived in Tobolsk during the time of Peter the Great visited the cities of Tyumen and Tobolsk. The purpose of the visit: acquaintance with the land, which was the place of exile and became the second home for their compatriots 300 years ago, as well as participation in the III International Scientific and Practical Conference “Steller Readings”.
Guitarist Miro Simic appeared in front of reporters in a military uniform of the times of Charles XII. In such clothes, the captured Swedes walked around Tyumen, Tobolsk until they got hold of Siberian coats and caftans. Miro Simic said that the captured officer, conductor Gustav Blindström created a military music orchestra in Tobolsk. His repertoire included polonaises, minuets, marches, Polish dances. The captured Swedes composed music, the notes were preserved, so that after three centuries it can be heard. And to the amazement of the assembled Swedish musician, along with his Tyumen colleague Natalya Chubka, performed the dragoon infantry march. By the way, the musicians rehearsed in absentia, by telephone. Miro Simic and some Swedish guests are fluent in Russian.

On September 27, 2006, an Agreement was signed between the Government of the Tyumen Region and the President of DeLaval Joakim Rosengren on cooperation in the field of dairy farming, under which the investor planned to consider the possibility of creating a Delaval production in the Tyumen region. The Tyumen region has been working with DeLaval for more than a year, the company provides consulting services, supplies refrigerators for storing milk to many Tyumen enterprises and milk collection points.
On September 4, 2008, the Governor of the Tyumen Region V.V.Yakushev met with the Director General of IKEA in Russia and the CIS, Per Kaufmann. The meeting discussed the possibility of implementing the Agreement between the IKEA Arbor subsidiary and the Government of the Tyumen Region regarding the construction of a furniture production plant in Ishim.
In October 2009, a joint commission on the development of decisions on the provision and transfer of land to legal entities and citizens made a decision on preliminary coordination of the location of the office and business center and trade pavilions in Tyumen (the area of Profsoyuznaya St. near Lake Alebashevskoye, area 16.2 ha LLC "IKEA MOS" Trade and Real Estate "). In 2010, the project documentation for the plant was prepared, but the situation changed, and with it the investment plans of IKEA. At an auction, the Swedish company won the right to lease a piece of wood, was a tenant for a year and a half, but in the summer of 2010 terminated the contract and suspended the implementation of this investment project in Tyumen.
In addition, IKEA representatives discussed the issue related to the construction of the Mega shopping complex in Tyumen with an investment volume of more than 4.5 billion rubles. MEGA is a trademark promoted by IKEA in the regions of Russia.
On June 2-6, 2012, the visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to the Russian Federation, Thomas Bertelmann , took place.
During the visit, a meeting of the Governor of the Tyumen region V.V. Yakusheva with the Ambassador of Sweden, in the framework of which issues of cooperation between the Tyumen region and Sweden were discussed, in particular, on the development of twinning relations between the cities of the Tyumen region and Sweden, the possibility of organizing tourist flows from Sweden to the Tyumen region. The ambassador supported the initiatives of the Tyumen region and expressed interest in continuing cooperation. As part of his visit to the Tyumen region, the Ambassador of Sweden visited the city of Tobolsk.
On December 5-7, 2012, the delegation of the Embassy of Sweden in Russia visited Tyumen. The delegation includes: Thomas Hallberg - Economic Advisor to the Embassy of Sweden; Morten Frankby - cultural attaché; Mikael Johansson - head of the Russian branch of the Swedish Trade Council; Marianne Hultberg is Economic Advisor to the Embassy of Sweden. The purpose of the visit is to discuss the preparation of the Days of Sweden in the Tyumen region, which are scheduled for February 2013.
Within the framework of the delegation’s visit, meetings were held in the departments of: investment policy and state support of entrepreneurship, the department of culture, the department of subsoil use and ecology of the Tyumen region. On February 28-March 5, 2013, with the participation of the Embassy of Sweden in the Russian Federation, the Swedish Trade and Investment Council and the Government of the Tyumen region, Sweden Days were held in the Tyumen region.

On March 1, 2013, lectures by Swedish experts in library science and contemporary art were held at the Tyumen Regional Scientific Library named after D.I. Mendeleev, and an exhibition of contemporary fine art in Sweden opened. A concert of contemporary folk music of the Miriam Andersen quartet was held in the Concert Hall of the Tyumen College of Arts. On March 2 and 3, 2013, a delegation led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to the Russian Federation Veronika Bard Bringheus visited the city of Tobolsk. During the visit, the official meeting of the delegation of Sweden with the Head of the Administration of the city of Tobolsk V.V. Mazur. The issues of mutually beneficial cooperation and the possibility of concluding an agreement on twinning relations between the cities of Tobolsk and Jonkoping were discussed.

On March 4, 2013, the SymbioCity seminar was held, which is dedicated to the concept of sustainable urban development. On March 5, 2013, the Swedish delegation held official meetings with the Governor of the Tyumen Region V.V. Yakushev and the Head of the Administration of the city of Tyumen A.V. Moor.
At a meeting with the Governor of the Tyumen region, the most promising areas of cooperation between the Tyumen region and Sweden were identified. The head of the region praised the existing joint projects in the manufacturing sector, the successful work in the region of enterprises with the participation of Swedish capital: CJSC Welding Electrodes Plant SIBES, LLC Management Company Delway Management, LLC Stroyinvest and others. Among the industries that are interesting for cooperation, the Governor of the Tyumen region named the scope of timber processing, energy saving, the development and implementation of modern technologies, including waste management and recycling, business and spa tourism, the establishment of twinning relations between the cities of the Tyumen region and Sweden.
September 30-October 3, 2013 the delegation of the Kingdom of Sweden visited the Tyumen region, Tobolsk. The delegation members devoted most of the visit to working in the scientific library of the Tobolsk Museum-Reserve and getting acquainted with rare documents stored in the State Archives of the State Archives in the City of Tobolsk. The delegation visited the places of alleged placement and residence of their compatriots, visited the factory of art bone carving products, met with local scientists, historians, local historians, students and teachers of the Tobolsk State Social and Pedagogical Academy named after D.I. Mendeleev. At the end of the visit, the Swedish delegation met with representatives of the Department of Investment Policy and State Support of Entrepreneurship of the Tyumen Region.
On February 24-26, 2014, the Director General of AVEK Group Eric Solen (Kingdom of Sweden) visited the Tyumen region. The main interest of the foreign delegation is acquaintance with the forest industry of the region, establishing business contacts with leading enterprises of the industry.
March 31 - April 4, 2014 a visit of the delegation of the Kingdom of Sweden led by the Director General of AVEK Group Eric Solen to Tyumen. Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with officials and visits to enterprises and social facilities of the Tyumen region. They discussed prospects for the development of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between enterprises of the Tyumen region and Sweden.
On February 6, 2015, a visit was made by representatives of IKEA management to inspect sites for the implementation of the investment project. During the visit, a working meeting with the leadership of the Department of the forest complex of the Tyumen region took place.
On July 28-29, 2016, the Swedish company ElofHanssonGroup paid a visit to Tyumen to develop cooperation in the field of timber industry. Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with the Deputy Governor of the Tyumen region V.M. Shumkov and representatives of the Department of the forest complex of the Tyumen region.
On September 18-21, 2017, the Second Secretary of the Political Department of the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow, Konrad Rickardson, visited Tyumen to participate in the VIII Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum.
On September 11, 2018, in the framework of participation in the IV Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the delegation of the Tyumen region met with representatives of the Embassy of Sweden in Russia.
During the negotiations, the Swedish side was handed over a package of investment proposals of the Tyumen region, a discussion was held of the possibilities for further cooperation, in particular, the opening of the IKEA store in Tyumen, the exchange of experience in the field of ecology, road safety and urban development.
October 28-31, 2019The visit of the Deputy Governor of the Tyumen region V.M. Wahrina to the Kingdom of Sweden. The purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the management and coordination system of state-owned companies when interacting with private innovative companies in Sweden in the following areas: innovative medicine, environmental protection, the use of nanoelectronic systems in various industries and economics. The initiators and organizers of the event were the ANO “Agency for Innovative Development”, the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Sweden, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in Russia (Moscow). The event, along with the Tyumen region, was attended by representatives of the leadership of about ten Russian regions. During the meeting, visits and free communication with representatives of the federal ministries of the Kingdom of Sweden took place,as well as public and private innovation companies.
