Cooperation with the Republic of Korea

According to state statistics (based on the 2010 census), 403 representatives of Koreans live in the Tyumen Region (454 people according to the 2002 census).

On November 22, 2013, a working meeting of the chairman of the committee with the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Russian Federation, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the resettlement of Koreans to Russian land, took place in the Committee on Nationalities of the Tyumen Region. Other promising areas of cooperation include oil and gas engineering, instrument making and oilfield services, cooperation in the construction industry, engineering, construction of logistics complexes, production of building materials, implementation of deep wood processing projects, exchange of experience in shipbuilding and ship repair, cooperation in light industry (production of finished clothes, shoes), pharmaceutical and medical industries, exchange of scientific and technical information and cooperation in the field of culture, health resort tourism and business tourism.

The official delegation of the Republic of Korea also got acquainted with innovative developments of the Tyumen State University.

The highlight of the program of the Days of the Republic of Korea in the Tyumen Region was the opening of a photo exhibition of the sights of this country and the concert of the Korean cross-jazz band StoneJazz in the Philharmonic.

On June 6, a Korean business delegation visited the city of Tobolsk. The Government of the Tyumen region is systematically expanding cooperation with the Republic of Korea in various areas of the economy and investment.

In particular, the delegation of the Tyumen region on April 23-27, 2017 took part in the Business mission to Korea. The business mission was organized by the Association of Industrial Parks of Russia, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Korean International Association KITA, and Trade Representations of Russia in Korea.

As part of a business mission in Seoul, an investment seminar was held on industrial cooperation and localization of production of Korean companies in Russia. The investment seminar was attended by 250 Korean companies.

Representatives of the Tyumen region as part of a business mission held presentations of the investment and industrial potential of the Tyumen region and individual meetings with Korean companies in the field of engineering, pharmaceuticals, the chemical industry, electronic technology and light industry.
