According to the Ural Customs Administration, the foreign trade turnover of the Tyumen region with Austria for 21 months of 2019 amounted to 21,885.67 thousand US dollars, of which export deliveries amounted to 77.46 thousand US dollars, imports amounted to 21,808.21 thousand US dollars.

The main product groups in the structure of exports of Tyumen goods to Austria, characterized by small volumes of supplies: 84 group of foreign trade activities “Boilers, equipment and mechanical devices, parts thereof”, 85 group of foreign trade activities “Electric machines and equipment, their parts”, 39 group of foreign trade activities "Polymers", primarily 3921 group of foreign trade activities "Plates, sheets, film, foil made of plastics."

Cooperation in the field of civil and industrial construction
It should be emphasized that the cooperation between the Tyumen region and the Republic of Austria in the field of civil housing construction was established and developed in 1992. In particular, a decision was made on the need to implement a joint Russian-Austrian project to design and lay gas pipelines and low pressure water pipelines using polyethylene pipes in the residential villages of Matmasy and Mys. The specified project was implemented by Zapsibgazpromstroy and the Austrian company GWH Wien. In Tyumen, on the basis of the Tyumen Industrial Institute (now the Tyumen Industrial University) in 1992-1993. gas-welders in polyethylene, pipeline transport engineers involved in the project were trained.Internships were also held in the Republic of Austria with the aim of gaining practical skills in gas welding of polyethylene pipes.
Cooperation in the field of agriculture
As a result of a trip in July 2007 by a delegation of the Government of the Tyumen region under the leadership of the Governor of the region, V. Yakushev, at the invitation of the Federal Minister of Agriculture of Austria Joseph Proll, signed a contract for the purchase of cattle - breeding bulls and cows of Simmental breed. With the organizational support of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, a series of mutually beneficial meetings took place, as well as visits to the insemination station in Hohensel, an agricultural vocational school and a Simmental cattle farm in Neusiedl.
In addition, Tyumen livestock breeders were given the opportunity to take the following advanced training courses: a theoretical course in Tyumen in September 2007 and a practical course in November 2007 with a visit to livestock enterprises in Austria, in accordance with a mutually agreed program.
Leading enterprises of the food and processing industry of the Tyumen region have partnerships with Austrian companies - manufacturers of technological equipment for processing meat and milk. In particular, OJSC Yalutorovsky Meat Processing Plant purchased technological equipment of the Austrian company Schaller. OJSC "Yalutorovskmoloko" cooperates with the company EsIGeKombiblok (Austria), which supplied equipment for the production of cream, sterilized milk in single packaging. OJSC "Yalutorovskmoloko" maintains established contacts.
The Tyumen State Agricultural Academy took an initiative in the field of mutual cooperation and additional training and implemented a number of student practices in the field of crop production and animal husbandry at the Federal Biotechnological Center of Austria.
On April 1, 2007, a working visit of the Austrian company Wienerberger Brick took place. The possibility of opening a new production was discussed by the Head of the region V.V. Yakushev and the General Director of LLC Wienerberger Brick Alfred Hofer.
March 29, 2007 the presentation of the investment and economic potential of the Tyumen region in the capital of the Republic of Austria - Vienna. The presentation was held with the participation and support of the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation in Austria and received a good response and great interest from Austrian potential partners.
July 24-27, 2007 the visit of the official delegation of the Tyumen region, headed by Governor V.V. Yakushev to Vienna, the Republic of Austria with the aim of developing trade and economic relations, investment cooperation and partnerships between the Tyumen region and the Republic of Austria.
October 24, 2007 Governor of the Tyumen Region V.V. Yakushev met with the Austrian delegation, who arrived in the region under the leadership of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to the Russian Federation Martin Vukovich to attend the opening of the office of the Tyumen branch of Raiffeisenbank Austria CJSC.
Within the framework of the visit, the Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Government of the Tyumen Region and ZAO Raiffeisenbank Austria.
On September 4-5, 2008, an Austrian delegation led by Johan Sachs, Director General for Foreign Economic Relations of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor , visited Tyumen in order to develop bilateral cooperation. The members of the Austrian delegation got acquainted with the development prospects of the “West Siberian Innovation Center for Oil and Gas” (Technopark) in the field of high technologies.
The delegation visited the largest enterprises in the energy and timber industry of the Tyumen region: UK TENKOM, OAO Tyumen Plywood Mill, OAO DOK Krasny Oktyabr, UK PARTIKOM.
On March 22, 2012, the Department of Investment Policy and State Support for Entrepreneurship of the Tyumen Region held a working meeting at the Austrian Embassy, in the framework of which a presentation was made of the investment and industrial potential of the Tyumen Region.
July 4-6, 2012 An Austrian delegation led by the Austrian trade representative in Russia, Dietmar Fellner, visited the exchange of contacts and business acquaintance of Austrian and Tyumen enterprises, as well as acquaintance with official and business circles of the Tyumen region. 18 leading Austrian companies took part in the Contact Exchange: manufacturers of equipment for the plastics industry, hot dip galvanizing plants, pickling plants, equipment and additives for the food industry, power engineering, biofuel boilers, industrial wastewater treatment plants, high pressure tanks and oil and gas services, water fittings, fire alarm and emergency communication systems, brewing equipment, taximeters, etc. Tyumen and Austrian companies discussed possible areas of cooperation.
December 4-5, 2013 Governor of the Tyumen region V.V. Yakushev paid an official visit to the capital of Austria, Vienna. Within the framework of the visit of V.V. Yakushev met with the Mayor of Vienna, the famous politician Michael Hoiple, and the Head of the Vienna City Housing Council, Michael Ludwig, an international expert in the field of energy-efficient housing construction. The topic of discussion was issues of urban planning policy.
In addition to official meetings, negotiations were held with representatives of the Federal Chamber of Agriculture to discuss cooperation in the field of dairy and meat cattle breeding, the food processing industry, as well as with potential investors in the timber industry and oil refining industry.

As part of the visit program, negotiations were held with representatives of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Economics, which includes about 400 thousand enterprises. According to the rules of the meeting, business negotiations with the representative of the leadership of the Union of Austrian Timber Union Rainer Handl took place in the chamber. During the negotiations, special emphasis was placed on the development of the timber industry - it is in this industry that the Austrians are most actively investing in Russia.
On December 4, 2013, an official delegation of the Tyumen region visited AKN, a medical town in the capital of Austria, to study the experience of VAMED, a leader in Western and Eastern Europe in the design, construction, service and maintenance of healthcare facilities and hospitals, and polyclinics.
On February 8, 2013, the Governor of the Tyumen Region met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to the Russian Federation Margot Klestil-Leffler (Moscow). The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between the Tyumen region and Austria in the trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian spheres.
In 2014-2017, the Government of the Tyumen region annually sent to the trade mission of the Russian Federation in Austria detailed, structured, updated information on large producers of the Tyumen region with an appendix of the full range of goods produced by enterprises. The goal is to establish a system of promoting domestic products abroad, through the existing system of trade missions. The sales office, in turn, places the specified materials on its official website, and also sends it to business associations and associations of enterprises in Austria.
On March 29, 2017, a meeting with the trade adviser of the Austrian Embassy in Russia, Mr. Lukavsky , was held in the trading department of the Austrian Embassy in Russia (Moscow). On April 26, 2017, a working meeting was held at the Representation of the Government of the Tyumen Region (Moscow) with representatives of the Embassies of Austria, Hungary, China, the USA, as well as with representatives of companies and business associations potentially interested in cooperation with the Tyumen Region. At the meeting, a presentation was made of the Tyumen region, as well as negotiations with the meeting participants. The event and negotiations were attended by more than 30 representatives of embassies and business, including trade adviser to the Austrian Embassy in Russia Rudolf Lukavsky.
About international contacts in 2018-2020
As part of the preparation for the visit, a delegation led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Russia, Dr. Johannes Aigner, from November 26 to 28, 2018 , the city of Tyumen, visited the culture attache of the Austrian Embassy, director of the Austrian Cultural Forum Simon Mraz.
In order to develop cooperation in the field of culture, Simon Mraz met with the Director of the Department of Culture of the Tyumen Region Viktor Novakauskas, visited the Tyumen Drama Theater, the Palace of Culture "Oilman", the Museum Complex named after I. Ya. Slovtsova, the historical park "Russia is my history", the museum "City Council", other objects of culture and leisure of the Tyumen.
Simon Mraz emphasized the interest of the Austrian Embassy to establish cultural and humanitarian ties with the Tyumen region in various areas: the exchange of creative vocal-dance and theater groups, art exhibitions, and acquaintance of a wide range of city residents with modern Austrian painting and photo art.
In order to expand cooperation in the field of education and science, an authorized employee of the Austrian Embassy met with the leadership of the Tyumen State University and the Tyumen State Institute of Culture. He supported the initiative of the TSU administration to organize a scientific and practical conference on contemporary philosophy in 2019 with the invitation of Austrian philosophers, as well as regularly send educational and fiction literature and open an Austrian reading room on the basis of the TSU library during 2020.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Russia Johannes Aigner visited the Antipinsky Oil Refinery, the Slovtsov Museum Complex, met with the leadership of the Tyumen State University. The Ambassador was especially impressed by the new approach, a new type of student training at the School of Advanced Studies of Tyumen State University.
Governor of the Tyumen region A.V. Moor and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to the Russian Federation Johannes Aigner agreed to plan business and official visits of Austrian delegations to the Tyumen region. In particular, during 2020, the possibility of organizing a visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to the Russian Federation, Johannes Aigner, is being studied. During the visit, the official opening of the Austrian reading room at Tyumen State University is planned. In addition, this year we are considering the possibility of implementing a visit of entrepreneurs of the Republic of Austria, led by Trade Advisor to the Austrian Embassy in Russia Rudolf Lukavsky and representatives of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Economics. The delegation will include companies with extensive experience in oil and gas engineering,wood processing, consulting and international trade. The purpose of organizing meetings and negotiations with Tyumen entrepreneurs is to expand mutually beneficial partnerships, increase industrial exports to Austria, and attract Austrian investments in the region’s economy.
